Laboratories Manager - Water Plant, City of West Columbia

Full time, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
Manages overall functions and the daily operation of the laboratory at both water treatment plants. Directs and oversees all procedures performed in the laboratory according to the Standard Operating Procedure Manual (SOP Manual). Performs such supervisory duties as instructing, planning and reviewing the work of assistants; coordinating activities; maintaining standards; acting on employee problems and assisting with the selection of new employees.
Ensures that the Water Treatment Plant laboratories are certified according to DHEC and EPA guidelines. Ensures that all lab tests are performed accurately to comply with all DHEC and EPA requirements including sample collection and analysis as required.
Oversees DHEC tri-annual lab certification. Serves as Safety Coordinator for the laboratories. Ensures that all procedures are performed safely by all personnel. Conducts meetings and relates new information as appropriate. Performs all regulatory testing and reviews daily control board results.
Bachelors degree in Biology or Chemistry, and six to nine years of biological lab experience in a water treatment plant; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
$46,460.13 - $65,046.26 annually
