Utility Maintenance Technician, City of Florence

Position Category: Utilities

Job Duties:
  • The Utility Maintenance Technician performs skilled work in the inspection, maintenance and repair of the City’s wastewater treatment plant, surface water treatment plant, and all other City facilities as assigned.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on mechanical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment as scheduled, and maintains related records; inspects, troubleshoots and repairs equipment; assists with construction and installation projects as assigned; performs general building and grounds maintenance work as required; performs other skilled and semi-skilled work as required; rotating on-call 24 hours per day, seven days per week, as scheduled, for after-hours or emergency response.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED supplemented by courses in Machine Tool and Industrial Maintenance.
  • Must possess or have the ability to pass Biological Wastewater Operator Certification Exam “D” within one year of hire.
  • Valid South Carolina Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain one within six months from initial date of employment.

Pay Info:
$19.60/hour; 40 hours/week
