Superintendent, Plant - Wastewater, City of Orangeburg, Department of Public Utilities

Full time, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff.
Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work.
Assists in developing, planning and implementing strategic plans, goals, and objectives for the division in the area of wastewater treatment plant and equipment.
Supervises the daily operations of wastewater treatment plant including biosolids processing and disposal, and remote pump stations.
Monitors plant systems.
Supervises the collection and laboratory analysis of wastewater samples.
Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
Evaluates plant operational capability.
Assists in developing budget for the division.
Oversees the pre-treatment program.
Develops and oversees a comprehensive maintenance program for the treatment plant process equipment and remote pump stations.
Communicates with supervisor, DPU employees, outside agencies, customers, the public, and other individuals.
BS Degree in Engineering or a related field required; supplemented by five years of experience in administering wastewater treatment plant and related systems, to include lead or supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must reside within a radius of Orangeburg, SC that allows for a 30-minute maximum response to call outs and emergencies.
Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license. Must possess and maintain the following licenses: A Level Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license.
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all City or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
