Building Inspector, City of Easley

Position Category: Code Enforcement

Position Hours:
Full time, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday

Job Duties:
  • Examines rough-ins, framing, electrical and plumbing systems, footings, roofing, etc. Prepares inspection reports; prepares and issues notices of correction and stop work orders as necessary. Communicates with contractors, engineers, architects, developers, property owners and others regarding the applicable codes and compliance requirements.
  • Issues building permits. Maintains a variety of logs and records related to inspections and enforcement activities. Attend training, conferences, meetings, etc. to enhance job knowledge and skills. The job may risk exposure to dusts and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, construction hazards, machinery, etc.
  • The job will require inspector to be on call as needed. Any other duties assigned by the Building Official.

Qualifications:
  • Requires a high school diploma and valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
  • Minimum of two years experience. Must possess a Residential Building Inspectors Certification. Must obtain Commercial Building Inspectors Certification within two years.
  • Be familiar with International Building Codes Basic computer skills.

Pay Info:
Salary will be based on experience.
