Chief of Police, City of Gaffney

Position Category: Police

Position Hours:
Full time, 8:15 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Thursday; 8:15 a.m. - 3:45 p.m., Friday

Job Duties:
  • Plans, coordinates, supervises and evaluates Department operations. Develops policies and procedures for the Department in order to implement directives from City Council or Administration.
  • Plans and implements a law enforcement program for the City.
  • Reviews Department performance and effectiveness, formulates programs or policies to alleviate deficiencies.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, public administration or closely related field. Ten years work experience in law enforcement, five of which shall have been in supervisory position; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid South Carolina Driver’s License or ability to obtain by DOH.
  • Current certification with SCCJA or ability to obtain certification.
