Town Clerk/Treasurer, Town of Seabrook Island

Position Hours:
Full time, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with occasional after-hours meetings

Job Duties:
  • Appointed by the Mayor and Town Council, the Town Clerk/Treasurer performs a variety of administrative, ministerial, and specialized duties which require accuracy, proficiency, confidentiality, and independent judgment. The Town Clerk/Treasurer provides control and oversight of town finances, official records, ordinances and acts of the Town Council. The Town Clerk/Treasurer also serves as the Clerk of Court. 

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, or related field is required. Graduation from the South Carolina Municipal Clerks and Treasurers Institute (MCTI) and/or designation as a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) or Certified Public Finance Administrator (CPFA) are preferred.
  • A minimum of five years experience in accounting, administrative, finance, human resources, legal or records management work is required. Prior government experience, specifically, municipal government experience, is strongly preferred. Prior experience working in a coastal community is also a plus.
  • The successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment criminal background check, credit check, drug screening and employment verification.

Pay Info:
Depends on qualifications; targeted hiring range of $65,000.00 to $70,000.00 annually.
