Code Enforcement Officer, Town of Fort Mill
Position Category: Code Enforcement
Full time, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
Receives and records complaints; opens case files.
Conducts field inspections of alleged code and ordinance violations; prepares written inspection reports; issues warnings and citations; meets with property owners to discuss steps to resolve issues.
Collects photographic evidence of inspection results. Issues warnings, citations, and stop work orders. Serves summonses to property owners. Prepares cases for hearing and trial; testifies as required.
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Possession of or ability to readily obtain the appropriate state certification for the type of inspections conducted.
