Code Enforcement Officer, Town of Fort Mill

Position Category: Code Enforcement

Position Hours:
Full time, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday

Job Duties:
  • Receives and records complaints; opens case files.
  • Conducts field inspections of alleged code and ordinance violations; prepares written inspection reports; issues warnings and citations; meets with property owners to discuss steps to resolve issues.
  • Collects photographic evidence of inspection results. Issues warnings, citations, and stop work orders. Serves summonses to property owners. Prepares cases for hearing and trial; testifies as required.

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Possession of or ability to readily obtain the appropriate state certification for the type of inspections conducted.

Pay Info:
$18.95 per hour
