Position Hours:
Full time, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Job Duties:
  • Statement of Duties: Position provides professional management and administrative work in preparing, coordinating, promoting, and implementing recreation programs for the City of Mauldin. Other duties include preparing and administering department budget; preparing and administering grants; recruiting, training, and supervising staff; maintaining records; and performing public relations and customer service functions for the department.
  • Supervision: Employee works under the administrative direction of the City Administrator. Employee establishes long and short-range plans and objectives, personal performance standards and assumes direct accountability for department results. Employee consults with supervisor only where clarification, interpretation, or exception to municipal policy may be required. Employee exercises control in the development of departmental policies, goals, objectives and budgets, and is expected to resolve all conflicts that arise and coordinate with others as necessary.   • Job Environment: Work is performed within the guidelines of administrative policies, general principals, and directives that pertain to recreational program administration. Employee uses extensive judgment and ingenuity to develop new, or adapt existing, methods and approaches for accomplishing objectives. Employee is recognized as the department’s authority in interpreting the guidelines, in determining how they should be applied, and in developing operating policies.   • Education and Experience: A candidate for this position should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Recreation or related field; five- to seven- (5-7) years of experience in parks and recreation management; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.` Special Requirements A candidate for this position should have a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: A candidate for this position should have knowledge of the following: Parks and recreation programs and services; turf maintenance and landscaping; employee scheduling, recruitment, and supervision; municipal budgeting and grant administration.

Pay Info:
$65,000 to $77,000 annually
