Firefighter/Engineer, City of Belton
Position Category: Fire
Full time, 24/48 Kelly Day Schedule (some overtime required)
Perform routine and complex tasks to provide emergency services which include responding/operating fire apparatus, fire suppression, hazmat mitigation, technical rescue, customer service related responses and patient care equivalent to the emergency medical responder level (EMR).
Performs fire and life safety inspections and develops pre-fire plans. Performs routine maintenance of fire equipment, apparatus and testing of fire hydrants. Employee will also teach various safety programs to all ages of the community.
Attends a variety of training programs offered by the department, state fire academy and other specialized sources. Further education and training will be encouraged.
Must be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma or GED. Must have a valid SC driver’s license and employee must obtain Class E or Class B CDL within six months.
Must pass SLED background check, pre-employment physical and drug screening. Candidate may be required to complete a skills ability test relative to the position.
Firefighter 2, Pump Operations, EVDT, Emergency Medical Responder, Auto Extrication, Technical Rescuer/Low Angle, Confined Space Entry/Rescue, Hazmat Operations. Hazmat Technician and Trench Rescue preferred.
Salary will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
