Job duties: Under supervision of the station officer, the firefighter
will provide responsible work for the daily delivery of services such as fire
suppression, emergency medical first response, fire prevention, pre-fire
planning, technical rescue and hazardous materials response. The firefighter is
responsible for participating in physical fitness and firefighter training with
their assigned crew each shift. This person will assist their assigned crew in
maintaining a competent level of operational readiness of their assigned
station and department apparatus. The essential function is to responds to
emergencies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent with one year of verifiable firefighting experience
- Commercial driver’s license or Class E license
- National Fire Protection Association
Firefighter II (International Fire Service Accreditation Congress or Pro Board);
national registry EMT-B or EMT-P; National Incident Management System; and emergency
vehicle driver training certifications
Pay info: Starting
salary dependent on experience and credentials held by applicant. Other
benefits include employee health insurance provided, S.C. Police Officers
Retirement, compensation for night time calls, compensation for off duty
training, health and wellness program for all city employees, free gym
membership, and medical training incentive pay: EMT $1,000, Paramedic $3,000.
