Utilities Maintenance Supervisor - Sewer, City of Myrtle Beach
Position Category: Public Works
Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
Coordinates, supervises and participates in construction, maintenance and repair projects for City water and sewer lines and related structures.
Supervises work crews on assigned projects including maintaining, repairing and/or constructing sewer, water, and ditch lines; installing and maintaining storm drains and gutters; clearing sewer back ups; repairing water and sewer fittings; locating and fixing water and sewer leaks; making and installing new water taps; building inverts; and repairing grinder pumps, manholes and fire hydrants.
Prioritizes, assigns and coordinates daily work activities; identifies and obtains needed equipment, materials and supplies for each project/job; provides on-site direction and supervision.
Consults with assigned staff, assists with complex/problem situations; responds to complaints and questions related to sewer maintenance issues and activities; provides information researches problems, and initiates problem resolution.
Provides technical assistance to crews in the repair and maintenance of the City's water and sewer system; computes linear footage of gravity sewer mains and sewer force mains, invert elevations of sewer manholes, grade or slope of sewer mains, and gallons per minute.
Associate's degree in civil engineering; supplemented by two years of progressively responsible experience in sewer system maintenance and repair; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver's license.
