Certified Officer/K-9 Handler, Town of Central

Full time, 12 Hour Rotation
At least two years of uniform patrol experience with satisfactory work performance, disciplinary and medical leave records. A willingness to remain with the unit for at least three years; a strong desire to work with canines and willingness to care for and train the animal. A willingness to care for and house the canine at the officer’s residence with a secure outdoor area for the canine.
All departmental canines must meet department’s requirements as prescribed by the Department’s approved canine training agency. Untrained canines may not be used for canine duty. Our agency will supply the trained canine
New canine handlers must complete a prescribed canine training course and successfully meet all course requirements.
High school diploma or GED required and must be at least 21 years of age.
Must possess and maintain Law Enforcement Certification from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy (SCCJA) or ability to complete SCCJA required certification.
Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
Salary will be $38,220 - $46,684 yearly. Salary will be determined by experience and qualifications. The Town of Central has an excellent benefit package and South Carolina Retirement.
