Public Information Officer, City of Georgetown

Position Category: Administration

Job Duties:
  • Under limited supervision, serves as a link between the City and the community, media, and other government entities. The PIO supports the Mayor, the City's management team and staff in formulating internal and external communications. Serves as backup to the Municipal Clerk and processes Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Serves as a member of the Executive Cabinet Team (ECT). Reports to the City Administrator.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Administration, or related field and four years progressive responsibility in public or community relations work, with an emphasis on managing external communications and public information programs.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills. Experience as graphic designer is a plus. Must have a valid South Carolina driver's license. Relevant experience with a municipal government agency is preferred.
  • Must be able to lift, reach, bend, exert force, or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds. May require sitting, standing, or walking for an extended period of time. Ability to adapt in a stressful work environment. Operates office equipment, such as computer, printer, copier, etc.

Pay Info:
Salary Range: $43,098.63 - $64,794.25 annually depending on experience.
