Civil Engineering Technician, City of Georgetown

Position Category: Engineering

Job Duties:
  • Assists in the planning, design, development, and implementation of City construction and renovation projects; oversees the operation and maintenance of the City's water, wastewater and stormwater systems and other public works infrastructure, and to perform related professional, administrative, and inspection work as required. Reports to the City Engineer.

  • Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or another closely related field supplemented by a minimum of one year of practical experience in civil engineering design and/or site and building construction inspection. Experience in AutoCAD software applications. Valid South Carolina Driver's License. Water Distribution Operator and Wastewater Collection Operator certifications preferred. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in the field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with the ability to learn other software such as ArcGIS. Ability to collect field information using a level and a surveyor's rod. Requires light-to-medium work that involves walking or standing some of the time and also involves exerting between up to twenty-five pounds of force on a periodic basis. Job duties may require climbing a ladder or scaffolding, and/or entering confined spaces.

Pay Info:
Salary Range:  $41,214.07 - $57,699.70 annually depending on experience.
