Equipment Operator I Parks, City of West Columbia

Full time, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. with some overtime, weekend, and on-call hours expected. Hours may change in summer months due to heat.
Operates vehicles and heavy equipment, such as back hoe’s, tractors, twin –axle vehicles, mowers, blowers, weed eaters, chain saws, edgers, and hedgers. Mows or edges lawns using power equipment. Cares for established beds and lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, trimming, edging, etc.
Uses hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes. Prunes or trims trees, shrubs, hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws. Gathers and removes litter.
Maintains and repairs tools, equipment, or structures, such as buildings, fences, or benches using power tools. Provides proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, or other grounds features.
A minimum of two years experience in landscaping, construction, and equipment operation. Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold for extended periods of time.
Must have a valid SC driver’s license with no recent major violations.
Must be physically able to perform the required manual labor. Must be able to easily pick or loft weights up to 50 lbs.
Salary range: $28,797.97 - $40,317.57 annually (FY 22-23)
