Municipal Court Clerk, City of Barnwell

Position Category: Courts

Position Hours:
Full time, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday

Job Duties:
  • Assists and carries out clerical tasks in Municipal Court. Prepares docket or calendar of cases to be called. Enter all tickets into the court computer system software. Spends time in court at Magistrate’s Office for Municipal Court Cases and after court, disposes of all tickets in the court’s computer system then sending the yellow copies of all tickets to the SCDMV with DL 76 forms.
  • Handle all tickets not paid on or before the court date with NRVC notices, processing to suspend licenses due to non-payment sending notices to both defendants and to the SCDMV. Compile Preliminary Hearing List as requested. Types all warrants for General Sessions and Municipal cases when requested by officers; prepares bond papers for General Sessions and Municipal cases.
  • Process fines on tickets and warrants and prepare jail releases as necessary. Perform monthly and yearly reports for the State, process Jury Trial information when necessary and prepare set-off debt list for tickets not paid.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One year certificate from college or technical school preferred; and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
