Hometown, SC is a long-range and sustainable initiative that will build relationships to raise hometown voices to a new level of influence. The goal is to demonstrate the value of South Carolina’s cities and towns to their residents and illustrate to policy makers and key influencers the important role cities and towns play in our state’s economic prosperity.
Hometown, SC is more than an ad campaign, legislative initiative or a short-term marketing plan, although the initiative includes these and other elements. This long-range strategic approach is intended to change the mindset of our target audiences about the value of strong cities by giving municipal leaders support and resources to help communicate and demonstrate the positive impact of cities and towns using common themes, resources and messages. By using a four-step strategy that involves planning, engaging, mobilizing and influencing, we build a long-term message around the value of cities.
Local municipal officials, in partnership with the Association staff, work together by communicating a clear and consistent message about the value of strong cities. This long range initiative focuses on a number of elements including member training, awareness campaign, legislative outreach, and partnership development.
