Risk Management Services has many resources available to assist you with your training needs.
Online Training Center
Risk Management Services has partnered with LocalGovU, an online training provider, to offer courses written specifically for public entities. The extensive range of training categories includes human resources, management, law enforcement and many others. The South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy has approved the law enforcement and corrections courses for continuing education credit. The courses take approximately 30 minutes to complete and are available 24/7 from any computer with Internet access. A certificate of completion can be printed once a course has been completed.

Risk Management Institute
The Risk Management Institute provides risk management staff members with an opportunity to gain an extensive understanding of their responsibilities, continually broaden their skill set, expand their peer network and identify resources to help solve local challenges. It is open to South Carolina Municipal Insurance Trust and South Carolina Insurance and Risk Financing Fund members. There is no fee to participate.
To successfully complete the Institute, individuals must attend four classes-two core courses and two electives–for two years. Each year, the Institute offers two of the core courses along with four electives (two for each program). Members of both SCMIT and SCMIRF can chose their two required electives from the four offered each year.
RMS staff is available to develop customized training for your entity. Staff will work with you to develop the needed training and will come onsite to present it. Sample topics include supervisor liability training, accident investigation training and our popular "Back to Basics" training which provides an overview of the workers’ compensation claim process.
Contact your loss control representative, Phil Cromer or Meredith Kaiser, for more information on our customized training presentations. Contact Cindy Martellini, claims manager, to schedule the "Back to Basics" session.
