The board members and staff of the South Carolina Municipal Insurance Trust and the South Carolina Municipal Insurance and Risk Financing Fund welcome their new board members. SCMIT’s new member is Van Willis, manager for Port Royal. SCMIRF has two new members, Gregg McCutchen, administrator for Bishopville, and Ken Mullinax, business license/risk management administrator for Anderson.
Risk Management Services would like to thank both Sam Bennett and John Potter with the City of North Augusta for their service on the SCMIRF and SCMIT boards, respectively. Bennett, originally elected when he was city manager for Clinton, served as chair of the SCMIT board for the last three years. He presided during a critical time in SCMIT’s existence and provided strong leadership when all workers’ compensation carriers struggled to contain costs.
Potter was elected to the SCMIRF board for the second time in October 2002. He was an original board member of SCMIRF from August 1990 through October 1996. Potter leaves the board as the vice chair and most tenured of any former SCMIRF board member. He has been on the board more than 12 years of SCMIRF’s 18-year existence. He worked to shepherd SCMIRF from a fledgling insurance program with 13 members to its status as the preeminent insurer of municipal interests in South Carolina.
