The Greyhound Flats

Nominated by Main Street Beaufort, USA

A Greyhound bus station built in the late 1950s sat vacant for decades in downtown Beaufort.

When the dilapidated building went on the market, Kevin and Rosemary Cuppia knew what they wanted to do. As owners of a 65-year-old downtown business, they were committed to transforming the bus station they passed every day into something special. Within months, design and construction began on The Greyhound Flats - a small, modern boutique hotel.

The building's original purpose as a bus depot inspired the design of this privately funded project. The renovations maintained the building's original fa-ade and resulted in a historically accurate addition to the downtown business district.

Started in the middle of the economic downturn, the business" two large suites are consistently booked with visitors.
