Hilton Head Island Town Manager elected to the Municipal Association of South Carolina board of directors

Columbia – During its October 2011 board meeting, the Municipal Association board of directors elected Stephen G. Riley, CM, town manager of the Town of Hilton Head Island, to its statewide board of directors to serve an unexpired term through July 2012.
 
Riley has been the town manager in Hilton Head Island since 1994. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, he has also served as community development director for the Town of Hilton Head Island, and as a planner for both the City of Beaufort and Beaufort County. 
 
Riley is a member and past chairman of the Beaufort County Rural and Critical Lands Preservation board, a member of the South Carolina Municipal Insurance Trust board of trustees, past chairman of the St. Francis School board, member and past president of the Hilton Head Island Rotary Club and member and past president of the South Carolina City and County Managers Association.  
 
The board of directors consists of the elected officers, immediate past president, three at-large positions and 10 other members of the Municipal Association selected from each of the 10 regional planning districts. The board has general control and supervision of the Association and is empowered to determine all policy questions.
