Water Department Superintendent, City of Walterboro
Under general supervision, is responsible for various activities to the water lines, elevated storage tanks, & water wells. Plans & assigns the daily activities of subordinates to ensure effective operations in compliance with established standards; exercises precautionary & safety procedures to avoid hazards—reports to the Utilities Director.
Duties involve but are not limited to instructing, assigning, reviewing, & planning the work of others; maintaining standards & coordination activities, allocating personnel; acting on employee problems, counseling, evaluating personnel performance, recommends new employees, transfers/promotions, discipline, salary increases, & terminations.
Coordinates with engineers concerning the design & construction of various projects; interacts with regulatory agencies as necessary in discussing departmental compliance to all pertinent codes & regulations. Receives & reviews maintenance records, invoices, service terminations, stock lists, construction plans, job applications, financial reports, project updates, regulatory agency reports & inventory records.
Associates degree in Civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Business with 3 - 5 years of experience in a related area at the supervisory level; or any equivalent combination of training & experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, & abilities.
Valid SC driver's license, Class C Water Treatment, & Class B Water Distribution Systems Operator certifications are required.
