Chief of Police, Town of St. Stephen

Position Category: Police

Position hours: Full-time position, hours vary

Job duties:

  • Plans, directs, manages and coordinates all police department operations pertaining to the enforcement of state and local laws designed for public safety and welfare
  • Works under stressful, high-risk conditions and performs specialized law enforcement duties
  • Works under limited supervision of the mayor

Qualifications:

  • Requires an associate degree in criminal justice, business, social science or other relevant field
  • Five to eight years of experience in law enforcement at management level or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Must have successfully completed required law enforcement courses; possess advanced law enforcement certification; and possess a valid SC driver's license
