Planning Director, Town of Fort Mill

Position Category: Planning, GIS

Position hours: Full-time position, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday

Job duties: 

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the planning department and staff; organizes and assigns work, sets priorities and establishes objectives and standards; manages the projects and programs of the planning department; and assists with other projects and programs as assigned
  • Supervises department staff to ensure that tasks and duties are completed in an organized, timely and professional manner
  • Develops policies, ordinances and administrative procedures for carrying out long- and short-range planning functions; evaluates policies, ordinances and administrative procedures; recommends changes, as necessary, to improve effectiveness and ensure continued compliance with town goals, objectives and all applicable laws, ordinances and regulations

 Qualifications:

  • Requires a master's degree in city/regional/urban planning, public administration or related field with five to six years of experience in urban planning, with specific knowledge of comprehensive planning, zoning administration, enforcement and technical construction codes, and inspection programs or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Must possess a valid SC driver's license

Pay info: Dependent upon qualifications and includes a  generous benefits package
